Cleaning tips for sports parquet floors
Sanitation and cleaning of hardwood floors
Doormat at the entrance
Make sure that the doormat at the entrance of the pitch in wood is
as wide as possible: it should be necessary to do at least some steps to cross. Make sure that the
mat allows to remove moisture and dirt from the surface of the shoes. A mixture of water and dirt
under the soles can cause abrasion of the floor. The mat should be maintained in good condition and
replaced regularly. A doormat dirt is useless for cleaning shoes or protection floors.
Users of the sports should always wear clean shoes inside the rectangle wooden
play. It would also be preferable to the use of shoes that do not leave marks, to reduce the
incidence of signs blacks on the surface. The most suitable footwear is undoubtedly the one with
rubber sole (or “para”) white but the colored-soled does not harm the wooden surface.
The “traces” of rubber of any shoe on the floor, are only the residue caused by the pressure of the
shoe on the floor the same during any athletic movement, a bit ‘as the residue of a rubber after
the correction of a sheet of paper or other surface.
Ensure that the equipment inside the rectangle playing wooden (baskets basketball,
volleyball poles, futsal, chairs, etc.) is in good condition and is equipped with covers, rubber, felts,
cloth or other protective material where it is in contact with the flooring. Much attention should
be paid also to the equipment sports. Skating disciplines in particular you must use only suitable
wheels and still taken only for indoor use.
The powder surface can have a significant impact on the strength or durability of a floor, in particular
when this is new or has been recently finished. The dust and dirt should be removed at least once
a day, preferably with the use of a broom scissor with antistatic cloths. To remove dirt and other
contaminants, the floor can be cleaned with special cleaners (degreasers or cleaners). The sports
floors subject to slight wear require these maintenance procedures only one or two times a week,
while the floors multipurpose subject to intense wear can often require daily cleaning. When a
normal cleaning seems insufficient to remove dirt and marks on the floor, you can use a more
aggressive detergent. Excessive use and continued aggressive products can however matting
or physically damage the floor surface. Avoid using excessive amounts of water on the floor.
Variations in moisture content of the floor can cause an expansion or contraction of the wood.
Although frequent cleaning can remove the dirt from the floor soluble in water and almost all
other contaminants, there will inevitably be a gradual accumulation of substances, including body
fat resulting from contact with skin, sweat and synthetic material coming from the soles of shoes
and the like, and this will make the surface more slippery. It is therefore important that these
substances are removed from the floor without the surface is damaged in any way. This is why it
is required additional cleaning of the floor. It suggests the use of a degreaser diluted and applied
with spray or damp mop across the floor and leave for about 5 minutes. It important not to apply
excessive amounts of product and not leave the product for too long on the floor. As a general
guideline, we recommend cleaning the majority of sports floors every few months, and those
subject to intense wear more frequently.
MACHINE WASHER DRYER
Among the systems for cleaning a parquet sports, Dalla Riva Sportfloors suggests not to adopt the
washer dryer. Incorrect use of the washer dryer may cause damage to the parquet sports.
If absolutely necessary, it is suggested to use a very careful, made with brushes and suitable
minimum amount of water and perfectly proportioned. Prolonged use of the washer dryer with
methods not appropriate, may compromise serious risk to the wood flooring in terms of flatness.
